“The JeansMarines Way”

We've adapted the 'walk-run' philosophy, which means that for every 10 minutes you run, you walk one minute. This method of training for marathons and doing them was pioneered by John Bingham, whose book “Marathoning for Mortals” you receive free as part of your membership in JeansMarines. You'll be well taken care of. We have a team of coaches who will teach you how to run or walk efficiently and safely, slowly building up your endurance. The coaches will also help you evaluate your progress throughout the year so that you can set attainable goals for yourself. There are Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches in all five Toronto venues, and specially-trained Walking Coaches in three of those venues.

Each group of JeansMarines also has a team of Mentors, JeansMarines alumnae who've been where you are now and will help you through the ups and downs of marathon training. We don't overtrain, that is to say, go beyond what's appropriate for our fitness level. We also have a team of medical doctors, physiotherapists and other health-care specialists who will teach you how to look after yourself and, if you do hurt something, to help you get unhurt as quickly as possible.
